Paracelsus' real name was Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim. 
Early in life, he took the name Paracelsus, meaning "greater than Celsus." 
Celsus was one of the great Roman physicians. 
Paracelsus wanted the world to know that he was even "greater than Celsus."
